Lakes Area Community Band

Combined band performance brings musicians together
For the first time, ACHS’ Advanced Wind Ensemble will appear together with the Lakes Area Community Band at a concert to be held Feb. 22 in the auditorium.
Although many ACHS band members also perform with the community band, never before have the two programs held a combined concert. Some students will perform on stage with parents and grandparents for this event.
Band director Patrick Hayes said he hopes that exposing his students to community band involvement will get them to continue playing their instruments after high school.
The Lakes Area Community Band was established in 1988 to encourage former student musicians to return to playing in an ensemble. The band practices on Monday nights in the ACHS band room.
The program includes separate numbers by each band, followed by both groups combining to play four selections.
Admission to the performance is free, and refreshments will be served afterwards in the commons.
